Inequity of health care

As opposed to the amazing speed with which Americans are able to access good emergency health care as well as safe and reliable medicine, the inequity of quality health care in poorer parts of the globe seems fairly obvious. What signs, if any, have we seen that significant strides are being made in this area? Is the lack of progress in narrowing this gap due to the politicization of health care in this country?
